KING KHAN AND THE SHRINES

The Supreme Genius of King Khan and the Shrines (Vice): B+

Equal parts lounge lothario and service department rocker, Montreals King Khan gets the crowd jump with retro-tastic tales of lost love, fast surviving and the joys of overweight women. His eight-piece band, including horn section, blares psychedelic, 60s-inspired rock and soul somewhere between the Hives, Frank Zappa and James Brown. The sound is raw, industrious and fun, even when Khan is ironically poking fun at the syrupy sweet pop his band so deftly mimics. Download: Torture. (Appearing Thursday at the Middle East, Cambridge.)

Original Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler had treasured to venture on a solo recording career since back in the '80s, but the chance -- and more than significantly, the right group of musicians -- was ne'er provided to the godfather of all heavy metallic element bassists until 1995 when the musician released Shaping Planet on TVT Records under the soubriquet of GZR. While many fans mightiness make been incognizant of the group's substantial metallic element line of descent due to the confusing call, those in the know were sure sated by GZR's ultra-heavy aggro mosh metallic element. Joining Butler on Pliant Planet ar Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory) on vocals, Pedro Howse on guitar, and drummer Deen Castronovo, whose résumé features recordings from Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Bad English, and many others. Besides its driving sound, this debut is most noteworthy for the scathing Tony Iommi commentary on the lead "Giving Up the Ghost." Never really a live band, this outfit played a few shows with Bell's Fear Factory, and in 1997, Butler released a second disk under the emended (and more recognizable) moniker Geezer. The book was called Black Science and featured obscure vocalizer Clark Brown along with Howse and Castronovo. Like Pliant Planet, this second acquittance featured punishing riffs and o.k. sonic packaging, proving Butler to be an inventive and singularly sullen artist. Eight years and so passed earlier the ring returned with Ohmwork.

Lily Allen rips off her bikini on Briatore's yacht

London (ANI): English singer Lily Allen was booted off Formula 1 boss Flavio Briatore's yacht because of her boozy behaviour, it has emerged. Allen was reported to have ripped off her bikini top and thrown herself off the side of the boat in a moment of drunken excitement, reports The Sun. The crew had to fish her out of the water as she was looking as if she might be drowning. Once she was back on board, a very red-faced Briatore covered her up with her dress as he was embarrassed by her inappropriate antics, and told her that it might be best if she retired for the night. Even though the F1 boss is known to spend a large amount of his time with half-cut and semi naked supermodels, Allen must have overstepped her boundary to be sent off.

Jason Lewis - Lewis Love For Older Women

Actor JASON LEWIS can't stop romancing older women, because he is convinced sex gets better with age.

The 36-year-old Sex and the City star, who hooks up with 51-year-old Kim Cattrall's character Samantha in the big-screen adaptation of the hit TV series, admits he shares some of his character's desires for more mature partners.

He says, "Older women rock, especially when you're young. Young people should sleep with older people. Sex is something best done with experience.

"When I was living in France, I had a couple-month affair with a woman who was around 50. I never let her see where I lived, because I was a little scared of her. We'd meet in the city and she's take me out to her chateau, have this great dinner, make love. In the morning, I'd ride her horse while she cooked me breakfast. The she'd drop me off in Paris."
